THE FAIR IS COMING TO MEMPHIS STARTING AUGUST 31ST

From August 31st through Sept 9th, Memphis can receive a complete 'Fair' experience at its newest location. This year, the Delta Fair & Music Festival is being held at The Agricenter grounds in Cordova. Everything from a midway, fair food, and rodeo to all kinds of activities, contests, exhibits, and fireworks for the whole family to enjoy. DEADLINE IS NEAR FOR LOCAL MUSIC VIDEO CONTEST

The 2007 Live From Memphis MUSIC VIDEO SHOWCASE has announced a call for entries, and their deadline for submissions is September 14, 2007. Selected music videos will be screened at Malco's Studio on the Square during the annual Indie Memphis Film Festival on October 19-25, 2007, and an award will be given for the "Best Music Video/EPK". If you are a local filmmaker or local band with a music video, SUBMIT IT NOW!! This is your chance to ROCK THE BIG SCREEN, as the Indie Memphis Film Festival attracts approximately 5,000 filmmakers and festival attendees annually. HERMAN GREEN GETS HIS NOTE !!

FreeWorld will be hosting a dedication ceremony for the installation of Dr. Herman Green’s “Brass Musical Note On The Beale Street Walk Of Fame” on Saturday, August 25th at 4:00pm. Everyone is invited to come down to Beale Street to witness this event and to help Herman celebrate 62 years of performing on Beale Street & around the world. His brass note (inscribed “Dr. Herman Green – Jazz Saxophone Legend”) is being installed in front of Blues City Café; right next to Jerry Lee Lewis’ note.

SHOW HONORING "PAPA" DON MCMINN

“Papa” Don McMinn is recovering from recent open heart surgery and a benefit is being held in his honor on Sunday, Sept 9th from 1:00pm to 6:00pm at Neil’s Bar & Grill (1835 Madison Ave). Eddie Smith, The Fabulous Steeler Band, The Reba Russell Band, and The Gabby Johnson Band will provide the live entertainment throughout the evening. There will also be a live auction as well as a silent auction.

VOLUNTEERS TO HELP BLIND MISSISSIPPI MORRIS ON SATURDAY

Memphis Heritage is leading a volunteer effort on Saturday, August 11th to help clean up the home of musician Blind Mississippi Morris Cummings. After Cummings received an eviction notice on his Chelsea home in June, community leaders vowed to help the bluesman. The home needs an estimated $70,000 to $90,000 in repairs.

On Saturday, from 9am to 2pm, volunteers will clean the attic, basement, and yard. The goal is to complete the work in a day.

SUNFLOWER RIVER BLUES & GOSPEL FESTIVAL

Clarksdale, Mississippi will be buzzing with the blues this weekend as the 20th annual Sunflower River Blues & Gospel Festival takes place Friday, August 10th through Sunday, August 12th. Headliners at this year's event are Bobby Rush, Denise LaSalle, and Billy Rivers & The Angelic Voices of Faith. INT'L ROCKABILLY MUSIC FESTIVAL
